Frida Kahlo de Rivera. (July 6, 1907 – July 13, 1954) was a Mexican painter who is best known for her self-portraits. Kahlo’s life began and ended in Mexico City, in her home known as the Blue House. Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.

In 1997, ACME released their first collection of fine writing tools. Being the creative team they are and always on the forefront of design, this allowed them freedom to work with globally recognized architects to artists, musicians to tattooists, and even
with Apple Corps, Ltd. For a project with The Beatles and the Le Corbusier Foundation to develop modern, timeless designs for these instruments of expression alongside watches, cufflinks, card cases, and small leather goods.
Founded in 1985 by husband-and-wife team Adrian Olabuenaga and Lesley Bailey, ACME Studio launched with a limited-edition collection of jewelry designed by Peter Shire, a member of the world-renowned Memphis Group. This graduated to working with all fourteen Memphis Designers such as Andrea Branzi, Michele De Lucchi and Ettore Sottsass.
